  23. The base model machine will have to sell at the same price as the current
  24. model (definately not MUCH more). That means that whatever costs have been
  25. saved by the production ramping up etc and a more efficient MB design, will
  26. go towards the better hardware

  28. A 1200 with a big time CPU will cost a fortune. Not only that but it's not
  29. instantly apparent what improvement there is over a 40Mhz EC30 or the like.

  31. Far far better to divert any extra revenue that may be available to more
  32. memory and cheaper HD options plus the usual nicities that we'd like to see
  33. including a built-in clock etc.

  39. Yes and they paid as much as the machine was worth all over again. Now with
  40. the 68040 and 68060 accelerators, you can upgrade your CPU to these levels
  41. with only 1.5 to 2 times the cost of the original machine.

  43. Keen Amiga enthusiasts that pour money into their machine are not indicative
  44. of the mass market that AT needs to capture to survive.

  46. I wish it wasn't so but reality comes knocking on the door.
